Cables and Connectors

Modular cables
Modular cables have been around for a while now, and thankfully Enermax has decided to add them to their PSU’s. Modular cables basically enable you to only attach the cables needed for your system, eliminating the clutter caused by unused wires. This is a great idea, and has been well implemented with the Liberty series of power supplies.

Supplied with the Liberty are the following modular cables:

  • 2x 22” PCI-X cables with 1 connector each
  • 2x 33” cables, with 2 Molex, 2 SATA, and 1 floppy connector
  • 2x 29” cables with 2 Molex, and 2 SATA connectors

The other power supply cables are permanently attached to the Liberty. Also, all of the cables (modular, and hardwired) are shielded with a black and gold braiding, which adds a neat touch.

The 4+4 pin CPU power, and 20+4 pin main power connectors are really great too, as it offers maximum compatability with different setups without the need for unsightly adapters. The extra 4 pins on each, simply clip on and off with ease.

‘Eternity’ Connectors
The Enermax Liberty has adopted a unique connector arrangement on their cables, known as ‘Eternity’.  This arrangement consists of pairs of a SATA and a Molex connector next to each other. This means you can power either SATA or PATA devices without having to use separate cables. Each cable has 2x Molex and 2x SATA connectors, although Enermax recommends that you only use 2 connections per cable.
